Charlie Cooper

Charlie Cooper is a screenwriter, actor and filmmaker from New York City, based in Los Angeles. Utilizing film as a way to encompass interests in drawing, photography, music and writing, Cooper explores themes of identity through obsessions, coming of age through different eras, and how film can be used to both illuminate and destigmatize important issues.

In 2021, Cooper shot and produced a mini-doc about Para-Olympian Ezra Frech, founder of Angel City Sports, a non-profit which empowers disabled youth in LA through sports. The film has been screened at several Angel City Sports events, and shared across social media.

In 2022, Cooper partnered with Syrian Youth Empowerment to create a series of short films telling the stories of Syrian youth through a series of self-directed interviews, as well as a feature interview with the Founder and CEO, George Batah.

Cooper grew up in Paris, New York and Los Angeles. Because of this, many of the stories he creates relate to what it’s like feeling at home in more than one culture. It’s a 2023 goal of his to make a film in French.
